How much can I expect to make per month, in 6 months time?

I'm creating a site part-time. Let's say I put in 2 hours per day of quality work.

By promoting all of the top programs on the same site, how much can I expect to earn per month, in 6 months time?

On average. Thanks!

Let's say you put in 2 hours 5 days a week, for 26 weeks. This equals 260 hours of work, or about 7 weeks of full-time work.

I have been working part time as a forex affiliate myself, and based on my experience you will not make a lot of money in the first months. Expect very modest returns for the first 6 months. If you are doing SEO and you build a great site, your earnings will accumulate over time.

When I started out in 2009 I made about $12.000 in my first six months from forex affiliate programs, working part time. It's not much considering the time I spent on this project, but what you need to know is that revenue is accumulating over time, and it takes a while to get your revenues up to a decent level, I made less than $1000 in the first three months, demotivating as hell, but luckily I just had this feeling that it would be accumulating, and I was correct. For me it has taken about 12 months or more to see the profit potential from a site, I depend 100% on SEO so it takes a while. I am now at the point that I could easily be living of my forex affiliate earnings alone, but I have too much fun in my other job, even though I am almost at the point where I am earning more as an part time affiliate than in my day job.

It is impossible to try to define a earning number based on this only. What you can expect after these 6 months is to learn if this is something you could do for a living, or if it should just stay as a hobby.

My suggestions for your projects:

1] AFFILIATION. In the first ~2-5 hours of your project, get affiliated with at least three good forex brands. I suggest starting with eToro Partners and 500Affiliates.

[Edit: Links to reviews for these affiliate programs added by Moderator]

2] DESIGN. Spend the next 5-10 hours on design, and after that do not do any other designing tasks. If you are using wordpress there are many free designs so you don't even need that much time on design. Try to spend as little time on design as possible - just enough to get a functional design that emphasize the important parts of your site (such as ads, important articles and other stuff that revenue for you).

3] CONTENT AND SEO. Spend all the rest of your time creating content and doing SEO work.

Your project could be more efficient using a freelancer and renting people for SEO work and article writing.

My estimates above is based on my own experience. I don't know anything about you and your qualifications. The biggest mistakes affiliates make is to give up too soon. Almost any affiliate will have modest returns in the first months, the big revenues will eventually come if you stay in there long enough.

It's possible that you will make $20,000 or more in the first months, but it's also possible to make less than $5,000. I would say you should do a very good job to make more than 20K in the first 6 months and 2 hours a work a day. Also, I think you need to waste a lot of time and do many wrong things if you cannot make $5000... so mu suggestion........ between 5K and 20K. Numbers will increase after the first 2-3 years, this stuff takes time and patience...

Thanks a lot sounds like 5k is minimum

Thanks a lot, sounds like 5k is minimum. I'm currently putting in 2 hours a day, and made $0 after 2ish weeks, but this is expected and my site is starting to index and get some traffic.

5k sounds great to me, I'd be chuffed to just get 5k! Thanks for the motivation and great advice.

Is it possible to make a million of dollars in your first year
as a forex affiliate? I almost finished to build a large website and i'm planning to make it appear on the first page of google search..

Sure it is possible to make a million in your first year
Goliath (23.11.2011)

Sure it is possible to make a million in your first year! Not normal by any standards, but still possible. I have been into forex affiliate marketing for roughly three years now and "only" made $260,000 in all those years combined from commissions from my forex partners. I'm sure it would have been possible for me to reach a million by now, but I would have to take more risks and work a lot harder to achieve that.

Making a million in a year is possible, but with only 2 hours of work per day I would say you need to be extremely lucky or extremely talented (probably you would need both).

I know a guy that made
Chris (23.11.2011)

I know a guy that made 2 million usd last year in affiliate commissions, forex is his biggest earners, although he is also heavy into the online poker industry.

A million a year is 2739 on average per day
Felix (23.11.2011)

A million a year is $2,739 on average per day. Getting there is possible but hard work and determination is needed.

I found that it was relative easy to get to $500 a day, and continuous effort every day is needed to keep the average at $1,000. Beyond this point it is very hard work and I need to twist my brain, there's an invisible barrier at $1000, at least for me it has been.

There has been days where I have made $9,000 but only because I was lucky and one of my referrals generated good revenues that day. Even for beginners its not that hard to have very good days, but in the end it's the total income that counts. That's why I calculate my daily average each month.

I always try to beat my monthly earnings and yearly eranings. Daily earnings I care less about, it's the total that counts.

Thanks

Thanks.

From the day you start a site, how long on average will it be until you make your first revenue, putting 2 hours of work in a day?

During this time, your site would have to index etc.

You know there is no average and I find your questions a bit
Anonymous affiliate (23.11.2011)

You know, there is no average, and I find your questions a bit... i don't know.. it's not possible to answer them with the specifics you are asking for. There are so many variables, I could create a new site and without help from my other sites I would be able to generate revenue in the first couple of months. Nevertheless, it's not the firs months that counts, because revenue will always be much higher when you have a well established site, and that takes at least 6 months, more likely 1-2 years, and only then can you see the real power of your site. Building a good revenue online is hard, takes time, but in my experience so much easier than building revenue in the "real world" (offline businesses, like retail stores or offline services and such)..

I still wonder how you guys make such large amounts of money as forex affiliates?

I still wonder how you guys make such large amounts of money as forex affiliates? Any tips? How many referrals do you have?I myself introduced 20 clients to eToro and barely making $100/month as of late. Very frustrating...

Banners and email list (8000 subscribers). Still don't understand why I can't make more money from affilate business.

Jef I find your numbers hard to believe
Chris (23.11.2011)

Jef, I find your numbers hard to believe. $100/mo. and 8000 subscribers. Either you suck at marketing, or your list is shIt, well maybe both. I'm not being rude, based on these numbers it's a fact. Where did you get that list anyways? In my experience, promoting forex is one of the easiest ways to make money online.

Well Chris, these are the facts my friend.
Jef (24.11.2011)

Well Chris, these are the facts my friend. And no, I don't suck at marketing either. I run a solid forex business selling ad space to big fx brokers, selling my own trading system and trading forex myself for almost 8 years.
In general, most traders suck blowing up their entire accounts in only a couple of days. I really would like to see those big earning screenshots.

Maybe I suck at eToro affiliate marketing...

It all boils down to this
Chris (24.11.2011)

So Jef, I find eToro to be one of the easiest forex brands to promote. You may be successful elsewhere, only not at promoting this one brand, which makes this even more strange. Of all the posts here I find yours the hardest to believe. I can't see how you find this brand so hard to sell if you are good at marketing. Oh, I know, you are promoting to the wrong people..

You are probably promoting eToro to forex hot shots, most talented traders don't use eToro, well some do, but it's mainly a service for beginners and people that are curious about the forex market.

The reason I find eToro so easy to promote is for its broad appeal, not a niche that you can promote only to people that are really qualified to trade forex. You will find good conversion in the "make money online segment", because there are people looking for alternative opportunities to make money online.

And please, "Screenshot or it didn't happen"... As quaoted by greenhorns all over the web. They'd ask to see which sites we are running too, just to "check our Alexa rank"? I fell for that once, just to discover they copycated my entire site and is now ranking right below mine in Google. I don't see any unreasonable earnings in this post... Many affiliates are making well over $200 per day, even $1000 per day as stated by one of the posters here.

You make a good point though. Marketing forex as an affiliate is not for everyone. To some, it might feel like easy money, to others it is impossible.

I know very little about the forex market, it is not my business. I am positive that I wolud loose every trade if I started trading today. Forex is not my business, promoting forex brands is. People make the assumption that if they are good at understanding a certain aspect of a business, they are capable of marketing it too.

Forex affiliates need just very basic understanding of the forex market, they certainly don't need any degree in finace. Affiliates are in the marketing business. I suck at a lot of things, but marketing is something you should know well if you want to survive as an affilaite. Identifying profitable markets is all it takes really.

Any tips on increasing revenue?
Anonymous affiliate (24.11.2011)

Any tips on increasing revenue? My site has been up for 3 weeks now, and I get between 10-20 unique visitors per day on average. No revenue yet, but site is not yet complete in terms of the main content.

After the content is done, I will continue to add content still, but what should I do then to speed up the process to stimulate as much fast revenue as possible?

By what time should I definitely see some kind of revenue - 1 month? 2 months? Taking into account I put in around 2 hours a day and this is my first site etc.

You are probably promoting eToro to forex hot shots, most talented traders don't use eToro
Jef (24.11.2011)

Thanks for your explantion Chris.

"You are probably promoting eToro to forex hot shots, most talented traders don't use eToro, well some do, but it's mainly a service for beginners and people that are curious about the forex market."

I guess that's my problem. I myself would never use eToro.

Goliath (24.11.2011)

In response to Anonymous affiliate above, I think you already have gotten your answer. You are asking for a specific answer when there is impossible to give one

Again, lots of variables here... If you expect quick results as an affiliate, you are in the wrong business. It takes a lot of time to build a profitable affiliate business, but once it's done it can be very profitable. If you expect to get rich quick or even make significant amounts of money in the first months you will be disappointed.

Give yourself at least 6 months and put all your dedication in these 2 hours of work every day, and after that you decide what to do next.

Okay thanks
Anonymous affiliate (24.11.2011)

Okay thanks. I know I won't get rich quickly, I hope to just make at least $1000/month by April-ish. But the sooner the better... so I can move forward quicker.

Considering hiring a content writer so I don't have to write any content myself for the next 3 months, so I can work on other aspects of my site like backlinking.

But I'm not sure if I'll make back the odd 1200 USD that I'd need to spend! Hmm...

CHris (24.11.2011)

Well, Anonymous Affiliate, that' part of being an affiliate, and a part of marketing in general: You never know the outcome before you try. You might get better at predicting outcomes, but there will always be uncertainties, and even the professional affiliate marketers make bad decisions once in a while.. being in affiliate marketing is a continuous learning experience, that's what so fun about it. As long as the world is changing, and the Internet is changing, we as affiliates will have to adapt to these changes to survice.
